Cześć Family and Friends!!!!

This week was a crazy one so I am going to jump right in!!
The week started by walking around the old town of Warsaw!! It is so cute and it was good to bond as a district!

My district has six missionaries in it... yes six!!!!! This is the biggest district I have been in!
My district consists of Siostra Thornton and myself, Starszy Schwanke and Starszy Baldwin, and Starszy McMaster and Starszy Connley! I can already tell this is going to be such an awesome group and that we are going to work really well together!!

This week had a strange curve ball thrown into it as well! Sister Thorton's ankle was bothering her Monday morning and by Monday night it was huge! We called and scheduled a doctor's appointment for the following day!! The next day we had district meeting and then we did a finding activity as a district! We meet some amazing people!

Sister Thorton and I talked to this man who is playing soccer here! He talked about how he is struggling with prayer right now! We testified to him about prayer and how it strngthens our relationship with God and how the Book of Mormon helps us do this as well! He said he wanted a Book of Mormon in English, because he doesn't speak Polish! We didn't have one but we are meeting with him this week to talk about it!

I also talked to an African American man who was from France! He had met with missionaries before but doesn't agree with everything! We talked a lot about how the Book of Mormon and Bible work together! He talked a lot about Christ.  I told him the bottom line is that it comes down to Jesus Christ! He grabbed my hand and was like "Amen!" It made my whole day!

We then went to the doctor! Sister Throton and I were panicked about him speaking Polish and how to get there so the AP's took us! We get in his office and we start speaking Polish.  Then he asked, "What language does she speak?" and we replied "English."  He spoke fluent English the rest of the time! We died laughing!! Unfortunately the doctor told us to stay inside for a couple of days and ice her foot because she had been bit by some sort of bug! Sister Thorton and I were determined to only be inside for a day, we prayed and prayed and iced her foot and guess what....it worked!! The Lord hears our prayers!  Just like the guy from France said...AMEN!

We had some incredible meetings this week! We met with a less active women and talked about why she had stopped coming to church! We asked her how she felt at church and she answered, "Peace!"  She agreed to come to church this week and we are so excited to work with her and help her!!

The following day was filled with meetings and finding! We met with our investigator! We had such an incredible meeting with him about the Gospel of Jesus Christ! We related everything back to Jesus Christ! He asked me if I knew 100% that God loved me and I looked him in th eye and said "I did!"  He asked how we knew.  We were both able to testify of times when we had felt God's love for us! We then talked about repetance! It was a great meeting because it really opened his eyes! He kept saying "I want to be a better person" and we explained how because of the atonement we are able to be better when we repent! It was a break through lesson! At the end he said he wanted to have faith like us so he is going to be more diligent in his prayer and scripture study! He is getting there!  We are starting to see the change in him!

We also met with a lady we found in our area book! She was amazing! She has such a tender heart! When I prayed in the beginning she cried afterwards and told us how much that meant to her! We talked about the Book of Mormon and prayer with her! She even asked for a specific verse to read! She gave us a bag of apples from her tree as we left and invited us back again! It was such a touching lesson!! She is one of the most kind people I have ever met here! She feels so deeply and she just has so much love in her! I can't wait to meet with her again!!

Zone training also happened this week! Elder Ashworth and I were able to lead it all in Polish! I was so nervous but there was such a good spirit there! My favorite thing we talked about was why we are here as missionaries! We asked that question and then concluded what unites us all is our love for the Savior! We played the talk by Elder Holland The First Great Commandment! I really encourage all of you to read it!! It talks all about our love for Savior and what he asks of us is to be His disciples! There was such a powerful spirit that entered the room! I testified afterwards about how much the Savior loves us and how freeing His atonement is! I couldn't help but get emotional! I truly love my Savior and His atonement! I don't understand all of it but I know that is was done personally for me and I am excited to continue to study and learn more of His grace and pure love and the sacrifice He performed for each of us!  Think about that...He did it individually for EACH of us!  We can have a personal relationship with Him.  It was so good to be able to see all the missionaries in our zone!! I feel so connected with all of them!!

I don't have much time but I just want to say that I really am loving Warsaw! I am starting to get my groove here! I know miracles are in store and we have already seen so many!!

I want to end by sharing a conversation I had with a recent convert in our branch! Sister Allowitz and Sister Herrera taught him before they left! This was my first Sunday meeting him! As we were talking he asked me what I remembered about my baptism! I told him I remembered feeling really good and at peace when I received the Holy Ghost! He told me that he had felt good before his baptism but that when he received the Holy Ghost he felt "cos innego" (something else)! He described it as an energy, a strong power! He was so happy and there was a sparkle of light that came in his eyes as we talked!

This again reminded me why I am here! It is for the people, to bring them to Christ, to see that light come in their eyes! I will forever be grateful for that conversation!!

Cześć Family and Friends!!!!

First week in Warsaw... check!!!!

This week has been filled with so many emotions!! I am still trying to figure it all out but I am getting there krok po kroku (step by step!)!

Warsaw is huge and so different than anywhere else I have served! Sister Thornton has helped me so much! She is constantly asking, "Does this look familiar? or Do you know where we are now?" She is helping me get my footing for which I couldn't be more grateful!

So much happened this week so I will just jump right into it!!

We had our Pday on Tuesday.  It was so much fun! We went to a giant tower called Stalin's Tower! You can see all of Warsaw from the top of it!! And it make it even better I was able to see my MTC comps, Sister Dekker and Sister Kamp! We spent all of P-day together! We walked around the centrum or the central area of Warsaw! I couldn't get over seeing huge skyscrapers everywhere! It was a great way to start off my time here in Warsaw!!

Wednesday we jumped right into missionary work! We did some contacting! Oh my does Warsaw have beautiful parks! We were able to spend the day with the sisters from Katowice - Sister Barney and Sister Gheen! They are so sweet! We were able to do mini-exchanges where we would switch companionships and contact together!

Sister Gheen and I talked to a man sitting on a bench! He invited us to sit down!  We talked to him a lot about the Book of Mormon! He was joking around with us when I told him we could get answers from it! He said, "I could just count the number of lines and get to a verse that has my answer!" We laughed but then he did it! He read the verse out loud and it was exactly the verse he needed to hear! It talked about repenting and coming back to Heavenly Father and eternal life! He read the verse and was quiet for a moment! We were honestly stunned too! He then asked if he could have it and I said of course! He wanted to read first and then he would call us! He thanked us though for that conversation and said it told him he needs to search for God again! We walked away but we both turned back and there he sat reading the Book of Mormon!!  It is incredible how even in times when you don't expect miracles they still come!

Then there was English class! They have three different levels in Warsaw.  Sister Thornton and I teach the beginning! They are a group of these old women and men that are so cute! They all help each other out and get excited when one of them answers it correctly! I am so excited to teach them again!!

The siostry spent the night at our place and needless to say there were many laughs and crazy stories about our missions shared!

The next day was MLC (Missionary Leader Conference)! It was so good to see so many familiar faces, Sister Sloan, Elder Garrison, Sister Barney, and the AP's as well as meet some new missionaries! I loved this meeting because... IT WAS ALL IN POLISH!!!!

There we were - all these 19-20 years olds, sitting discussing about the Poland Warsaw Mission in Polish!!  President Turek started it off just by asking what we think our zones need! We narrowed it down to four points: planning, no surprises after baptism, ciągłość (continuity), and working with branch leaders! It was incredible to just talk with one another about how we want to help this mission!

My favorite thing we talked about was ciągłość (continuity)! We talked about how a lot of the time we forget to keep up with what we did the transfer before! We called it the "don't mess with a good thing" point! We should constantly be building on the things we learn and do - line upon line! We talked about how we need to get a routine down and what that means! We discussed how it means understanding our missionary purpose and then having it be our motivator!

My new favorite Polish word is "uparty!" It means stubborn but not in the sense where you won't do something, in Polish the meaning is "determined!" I love this!! This goes way beyond a mission! The gospel is so much more then just sitting, studying, and learning!  It is about becoming! Our actions cause us to become something more, however if we let the ground we have built on slowly crumble because we neglect to do something then it doesn't grow to become something beautiful!

Sister Turek related it to gardening! Really all a plant needs to grow is soil, sunlight and water! It is our job to water the plant every day! If we do these thing the plant will grow! However, we can get more creative! We can add fertilizer, different things to protect it from bugs, etc., but we must always remember to water it!! This is the same for us! What we do daily: prayer, scripture study, etc. is the water! As we do these things we grow! From these basics we can then add on deeper studying, fullfiling callings, etc. and as we continue to grow we can't forget the basics! I loved the meeting! I just felt such a love for my whole zone and I feel really blessed to be able to help them in this way!!

We also met with one of our investigators that day! I want to tell you a little bit of background on why this meeting meant so much to me! We had just gotten a baptismal date in Gdańsk and then I was transfered! I was really upset but then I received a text that same day that Sister Thorton and Sister Allowitz had just recieved a baptismal date that day, for the same day as our investigator!  I know this may seem silly but I was so grateful for this opportunity to teach someone committed to baptism! So I was elated when we were finally able to meet with this investigator! He was a little late so we had a short meeting on prayer and coming to church!! There was a really beautiful spirit in the room!  I am so excited to continue working with him!!

We were also able to meet some really incredible people this week!! We met this one man from India who is here on study abroad! We talked to him about the Book of Mormon! He wanted a copy and we happened to have one in Hindi in our apartment! We told him we could meet tomorrow to give him one! When we met with him later he only had a few moments but told us to tell him what he needed to know! We both testified of it and how it would bless his life! He read Moroni's promise and was quiet and then he thanked us for giving him the book! It was such an a amazing feeling! The conversation was short but you could tell that it left an impact on him!!  And I believe it isn't just coincidence that we had a a Hindi Book of Mormon in our apartment!

Saturday was my favorite day of this week!!

Elder Schwanke, an Elder in my district, and been working with an investigator for a while and on Saturday he got baptized!!! It was held in the Warsaw I chapel - which is an actual chapel! I got teary eyed walking up to it! I haven't seen a chapel of my entire mission! To see it in Poland with the name of the church in Polish on it seriously touched my heart! It made me want to work that much harder to have them all over Poland!! I just wanted to walk around and see everything!! I could not get over it! It was such a miracle to me!! We sat in the chapel (yes a real chapel!!!) and their investigator walked in dressed in white!! The Spirit was so bold! We sang hymns and then we went to the font and Elder Schwanke performed the baptism!! I became emotional! This was the most incredible sight to me that I had ever seen! This was my first time seeing a baptism here in Poland! I can't even begin to describe the feeling I had! I watched someone enter into an incredible covenant with God, who you knew had to change his life to get there!! I pictured people I had met in the past and them entering! It was as if someone grabbed me and shook me and said "This is it!  This is why you are here! This is why you come! This is for every door slammed!  For every rejection! They all lead to this moment!  They all make it worth!"

After the baptism he bore his testimony! It was simple and beautiful! He said that he had never felt this way before and he didn't know how to describe it!! I was smiling so big my cheeks hurt! He understood and he felt it! It was such a special day! To end the day we had Sports Saturday! We had a bunch of people come out for ultimate frisbee! It will go down as one of my favorite days of my mission!!

Baptism means something so much different to me now!! I am so grateful for it!! I can barely even write this with out becoming emotional! This day also brought me so much peace of being here in Warsaw!! I am ready to work and do what is asked!!

The week ended with church!! The best part was.... OUR INVESTIGATOR CAME!!! He was so peacful and relaxed! He wants to talk about it at our next meeting and we are so excited to be able to work with him!!

I was also able to translate for Primary! It was so fun to sing primary songs in Polish! Those kids are so cute! One little girl prayed that, "The missionaries will teach the people of the whole world," I was like AMEN!! It made my entire Sunday!!

I am so excited to be here in Warsaw and to be a missionary! Saturday put everything in perspective again! That one moment makes it all worth it!!

Warsaw, Poland - Tearful goodbyes! Faith trumps fear! A baptism date! Change!

(Sorry no pictures this week.  :(  The library's computers didn't allow it! - Madre D)

Cześć Family and Friends!!!!
This last week was the last week of this transfer, so that means.... TRANSFER CALLS!!!

To give an update on everything that happend I was transferred to Warsaw 2, I am finishing the training of Sister Thorton (now my new companion), Siostra Sloan is finishing the training of Siostra Groesbeck in Gdańsk and I am STL (Sister Training Leader)!

Needless to write -  a lot of changes happened! I really was not expecting to leave so this transfer call hit me really hard! I will write a little later more on this!!
This week started off so fun!

We went to the Jarmark! St. Dominicks Fair! I wrote about it before but it was so much fun to explore!  It is one of the biggest fairs in Europe and dates back to the 1200's!  There are vendors from all over! There is a wide variety of food, antiques, and different trinkets to buy! My favorite thing was smoked sheep cheese! They press sheep's cheese in funky molds, smoke it over a fire and serve it with cranberry jam! It is heaven! We spent the whole day as a district and with the Taggarts!  I could not have asked for a better P-day!

Tuesday we had our last district meeting! There was definitely a melancholy feeling to it because we knew some of us might transfer.   We talked about what we had learned and how incredible this transfer had been! We had become so close and we felt like the dream team district!

My district helped me so much this transfer! They were so supportive and when I would freak out they were right there! They helped calm my fears of being a trainer - I knew I was never alone because of them! They are all incredible missionaries!

I want to write though about my companion Sister Groesbeck.  I don't think she will ever know how much affect she had on me! She was the biggest miracle to me! When she walked into the room the first day we both felt we would be companions! She has been such a good example to me and has taught me so much! She helped me to laugh at myself making this transfer was so much fun! We had hard moments where we cried it out!  I was down on my knees a lot asking what to do but we were so incredibly blessed! She has become one of my dear friends and it was so hard to leave her! She is one of those people who has truly changed my life! She put up with all my craziness and always made me feel loved! She taught me so much more than I could ever teach her! She is a fantastic missionary and I feel so blessed to have been able to serve with her!! I love you Siostra Groesbeck!

(I am now looking forward to training Siostra Thorton - she and Siostra Groesbeck were MTC companions!)

The biggest miracle of the transferred also happened this week!

Here is the story (I think I wrote some of this in a previous letter, but here is the full story!):

Sister Groesbeck and I were looking for a post office to send something and a security guy told us the nearest one was by the Dworzec. We were positive there wasn't one there but we decided to go anyways! We are walking through the tunnel and this guy stops Sister Groesbeck and asked "You are Mormons right?" He goes on to explain he is from the Ukraine and was meeting with missionaries there! The missionaries got taken out of his city though because of the war! He also has a friend who is serving a mission right now! He asked us where the chapel was and we gave him a card, as well as info on our English class!! Then I asked him if he wanted to meet and he said of course! He then told us that he was going to go find the chapel right then so he knew where it was!

Our first meeting with him was amazing! He is still learning Polish and English and spoke Polish with very strong Russian accent! We were communicating in all three languages with a translator on his phone to help! The Spirit was so strong!  We were able to understand him and he was able to understand us!  We taught the restoration and checked to see what he knew! He agreed with all of it and when I told him that this church had the complete and fullness of Christ's gospel he said "Amen!" Haha! We asked him to read and pray and he said he already had a Book of Mormon in Russian! He committed to do it! We then asked him to be baptized! He said as "We continue to meet I will know it is true," and then said "YES!" He is getting baptized on 10 of September!

The most incredible thing about that entire lesson though is Sister Groesbeck led this lesson with spiritual power!  She did!  It was amazing and I was so proud of her!! We could not believe how strong the Spirt was! We felt like we were on cloud nine!! Moments like this remind me why I am on a mission! It is so incredible to see that light come into someone's eyes as they feel it in their heart!! It really makes it all worth it!!

We also had such a fun English class!! It ended up with only four of us: Sister Groesbeck, myself, a branch member and another person who every missionary knows! We were playing head bands and the other guy had the word "eraser" and asked for a hint! I told him people need it when the make a msitake and in all seriousness he replied, "Jesus Christ!" Sister Groesbeck and I were so happy and died! We were like "YES EXACTLY!"  It was such a fun last english class even though our numbers were small!!

Saturday was mixed with emotions! I received my call that day for transfers.  I won't lie I bawled! I really didn't think I was leaving! Sister Groesbeck and I just stood there crying and hugging! I then called the Taggarts and of course cried again!

The Taggarts have become family to me! They are some of the most incredible people I have ever met! They both try and speak Polish to members and to everyone! They are constantly looking for people to talk to and they really love these people! They have helped me so much! Their words of kindness and encouragement have helped me in more ways then I can count! They believe in this mission and in us younger missionaries!! As Sister Taggart would say, "We are eternal friends!" I feel so blessed and honored to have served with them as long as I did!  I love you Taggarts!

I am still trying to process everything with transfers but one thing I know for sure is Heavenly Father knows what He is doing! This is where my faith comes in and I have to trust in Him! I know Warsaw will be what He wants for me.  I know my sad emotions are ok too!  My emotions are evidence of my love for all that Gdańsk was - every person and every part of that city!

We also had fun on Saturday too!! We went to a member's house and we learned how to make pierogi! We made ruskie or pierogi with potatoes and cheese! They were incredible! I have been wanting to learn how to do this my entire mission and it was such a good way to end the transfer!

Sunday was my last day in Gdansk! I was asked to speak in sacrament meeting!  I spoke about what I had learned!! I learned during my time in Gdansk most of all that prayer with sincere faith allows Heavenly Father to grant you answer!  I learned to believe in miracles as we continued to see them over and over again! I learned we are never alone - I've felt my Savior beside me krok po kroku (step by step)!  And finally I learned how to love others and myself more! I love those members so much and saying goodbye to them was so very difficult! They have become part of my family as well and they will forever hold a special place in my heart!!

I loved my time in Gdańsk but I know that Warsaw is where I am suppose to be now! I won't say that I am not scared... because I am!  But I know that faith trumps fear so I am ready for what I have to do!

I want to share two final miracles! The last one happened Sunday night as we were going to our last finding activity as a district! We were waiting for the tram and this couple stopped Elder Musgrave. It turns out they are in my branch in Warsaw 2! It was such a small yet big miracle to me...letting me know I was going where I should!

Finally, the last miracle I want to share is about change, or really the change in me! I grew so much this transfer and I feel so much different than I was before! I asked at the beginning of the transfer to become what Heavenly Father wanted me to become and I feel like I am becoming that person!!

I can't begin to thank my Father in Heaven enough for this mission and what it has taught me!! It is the best thing I have ever done!

So... let the Warsaw Adventure begin!!

My masterpiece!!

Cześć Family and Friends!!!!

Well this transfer is coming to a close and it is has been one of my favorite transfers from my mission! I have learned so much!

I definitely needed the push to train this transfer! I have never felt alone though with every step of the way! I have felt guided the entire way!

I have been blessed with the most incredible companion, Sister Groesbeck! She rolls her eyes every time I say it but she has been the biggest blessing of this transfer! She has taught me so much more than I could have ever taught her!

I wrote at the beginning of this transfer that I felt miracles were going to happen and there has not been a day this transfer where we haven't seen miracles! I am so grateful for everything that has happened this transfer both the incredible moments and the hard moments! I have had to cry it out and get down on my knees but it has been so worth it! We are ready to finish srong and I can't wait to see what this next week brings!

We started off the week by going to Toruń! It is the cutest old town that is known for its gingerbread! Needless to say we definitely bought some! Oh my goodness it was amazing! There were all different kinds but my favorite was the gingerbread bars with bluberries! Wew ere also able to spend the whole day with the Taggarts!

I want to take a moment and write about them! The Taggarts have been such a big blessing to me! We always have so much fun when we are with them! They have truly opened up their hearts to these people and they love them fully! I know they have sacrificed so much but I feel so grateful to have had the opporutnity to serve with them! The inspire me to adhere to this Gospel even more so that I can be like them!  It was such a fun Pday!

This week we weren't able to meet with a lot of people we have been working with but we still were able to be part of some neat experiences! We meet with one lady we found in our area book! She was so cute and she had such a sweet home! Sadly however she just isn't ready! We talked a lot about the Plan of Salvation and how we can live with families forever!

She didn't quite understand that concept! She believed we just have love on this earth and that is it! We tried explaining it to her and we brought it back to the Book of Mormon! She went back to saying how we already have the Bible so we don't need a Book of Mormon! We were able to testify to her about the Book of Mormon and how God's plan is in it and how it works with the Bible.  Through the Book of Mormon we truly know the Savior appeared to the people living in America!  Heavenly Father and Christ will never leave anyone behind!  Sister Groesbeck and I both felt the spirit so strongly! Sometimes it is frustrating when others you know feel it but don't acknowledge it! She committed though to read the Book of Mormon and doing it with an open heart!

We also had zone confernce this week! I really love these meetings!  It makes me so happy to see all the missionaries that are in the zone and to know we are all in this together! This zone Comfernce was the first one with President Turek and his wife!

Siostra Turek started off the conference talking about faith! She tied it all back to Ether 12:12, which states, "For if there be no faith among the children of men God can do no miracle among them; wherefore, he showed not himself until after their faith." We had discussed miracles before and she explained how we cannot perform miracles without having faith! She then asked us the question, "What do you really believe the Lord can do through you?"

Sister Groesbeck and I have been thinking about that question! During our weekly planning we set some goals according to our faith and we are excited to see what the Lord has in store for us this last week! President Turek then focused his portion on gratitude and why it is important to show gratitude!

Sometimes I think we forget to count our blessings! We get into the routine of saying the usual ones but do we thank our Heavenly Father for the specific things we saw day by day!?
When we are grateful it shows Heavenly Father how much we love him and allows us as well to recognize all the blessings in our life!

The conference ended by us finishing the sentence "In this mission we..."  It was so amazing to hear all the answers! The two we focused on were "We hope to be able to do hard things" and "We love!" We discussed why we sometimes do have to do hard things and how hope can help with that!

My mission has not been easy but every time I feel close to defeat I feel that hope and it keeps me going!

Love as well becomes a motivator...love for God, the people, and the Gospel!

This confernce was also so special because it was in Polish! I have loved how much Polish is now emphasised! I am grateful it will continue in every conference forth coming!

We also saw so many miracles this week! The one that stood out the most to me though happened when we were buying groceries! Our train came home late from zone conference and we ran in to grab some things! We were in line and I was holding a bunch of stuff and couldn't set it down when all of a sudden I see that couple Sister Young and I had been working with! They hadn't been responding so I figured they weren't interested anymore but I just felt like I needed to talk to them! I ran up to them and she gave me the biggest hug! They said they had been out of town and their friends had just came to visit them! They told me they are still interested in meeting! I couldn't believe it! They were just as happy to see me as I was to see them! Their friends were with them and she even showed them my tag and explained who I was! It was so incredible! Everything with the timing of the train worked out so we could see them! The Lord's timing is so evident in our lives!

President Turek came as well and gave a fireside to the Gdańsk members! You could tell how much it meant to them to hear it all in Polish! This is so big for Poland! I know this church is going to grow here and President and Sister Turek are going to help it do so!! I am so grateful to be here for the timing of it all!!  The Lord is in the details including the timing of all things!
